![]() WaW is one of my favourite games of all time. Overall, It is easily one of the best COD games in the series and it's a game I'd highly recommend if you are simply looking for a top-notch shooter to play, but I also want to hear what y'all think about it. Being the first COD game to have it, it's pretty barebones compared to the newer versions but it is also the second most addictive version of Zombies in the games I have played, as it is about as pure as you can get. Reznov is a great character and only gets better in Black Ops based on what I've heard. The campaign itself is also decent on its own, as this is when Activision and Treyarch were at their peak in my opinion, though the Russian half is undoubtedly stronger in the story department than the American half. Things like how soldiers scream in agony if you blow their legs off with a grenade, or how they frantically swipe at their clothes when sprayed with a flamethrower really sells the horrors of war and accentuates the overall bleak tone of the game which is something I felt was missing from modern COD games. Things like Japanese soldiers committing seppuku as you approach a defeated base, or Nazis shooting bodies in Stalingrad to ensure that they are truly dead. For one, its easily one of the most brutal shooters I have ever played, not due to extensive amounts of gore, but because of the intensity with witch is (rightly) portrays the second world war. World at War was certainly an experience for me.
